What is willow bark?
The Black Willow or Salix nigra is a medium-sized deciduous tree, the largest North American species of willow, growing from 10-30 m tall with long, alternating, shiny green and narrow lanceolate leaves. Although named Black Willow, the bark of most specimens is dark brown or gray, becoming fissured on older trees. Derived from the bark of the black willow tree, willow bark has been used for centuries to soothe irritated skin.
Why do you need willow bark in your beauty ritual?
Willow Bark Extract is a source of natural salicylic acid, the botanical form of beta hydroxy acid (BHA), which has both powerful anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
An all-natural, gentle exfoliant abundant in tannins, phenolic acids, flavonoids, and various minerals, willow bark extract helps to reduce acne and irritation, slough off dead skin cells, refine pores, soothe the skin and aid in cell regeneration, making way for fresh, smooth and radiant skin.
